Aurora had 180,556 residents in 2020 and spans four counties: Kane, DuPage, Will and Kendall. It took the nickname City of Lights in 1908 because in 1881 it was one of the first cities in the country with all-electric street lighting, and its older neighborhoods show that history, including the West Side Historic District and more than fifty Sears Catalog Homes.
