Repairs & Prep Naperville, IL
Power washing for Naperville homes and driveways
Low-pressure house washes that lift mildew and chalk, deck and fence cleaning that does not tear the grain, and real pressure only where concrete can take it.
- Calls answered 24/7
- Soft wash on siding, pressure on concrete
- Prep for painting or stand-alone

Quick answer
Power washing in Naperville is two different tools: a soft wash at low pressure with a cleaner for siding, stucco, decks and fences, and a true pressure wash for concrete, pavers and garage floors. Using high pressure on wood or vinyl furs the grain and forces water behind the siding. Most houses wash in half a day; call to book it alone or as prep for painting.
What the job involves
Pressure is for concrete, chemistry is for everything else
The green film on a north wall, the gray on a cedar deck and the black on a driveway are three different problems, and only the last one should meet 3,000 psi. Siding, stucco and wood get a cleaner applied at low pressure, allowed to work, and rinsed; that lifts mildew and chalk without stripping paint or driving water into the wall. Concrete gets a surface cleaner and real pressure.
We wash as stand-alone maintenance and as the first step of every exterior paint or stain job, because paint applied over chalk and mildew is the fastest way to a warranty argument.

The 3 versions of this job we get asked for
House wash before painting
Every exterior we paint is washed first, and the wash is a job in itself: a mildewcide and cleaner applied from the bottom up to avoid streaks, dwell time, then a top-down rinse at pressure low enough that it would not hurt your hand. Chalk on aluminum and old acrylic, mildew on the shaded elevations and spider webbing under the eaves all come off. We then wait for the siding to dry, usually a day or two, before any scraping or priming. A house wash on its own also makes sense every couple of years to keep mildew from staining the finish.

Deck and fence wash
Wood is where pressure does the most damage. We use a wood cleaner and a brightener at low pressure to remove gray oxidized fibers, mildew and old failing stain, then rinse and let the boards dry to a moisture reading a stain will accept. The brightener neutralizes the cleaner and returns cedar to something close to its original color. A fence gets the same treatment on both sides. If the old stain is a solid that has peeled, washing is followed by a stripper rather than more pressure.
Concrete and walkways
Driveways, patios, walkways and garage floors are where the pressure washer earns its name. A rotary surface cleaner keeps the pattern even so the driveway does not end up striped, a degreaser lifts oil stains, and a mildew treatment handles the green on shaded patios. Pavers are washed more gently so the joint sand stays put, and can be re-sanded and sealed afterward. Concrete is best washed before an epoxy coating or a sealer goes on, and after the winter salt has been rinsed away.

Local conditions
Power Washing around Naperville
Naperville's humid summers, with July highs in the mid 80s and the region's wettest months in the warm season, grow mildew on north and east elevations and on any deck under trees, which is why most of our stand-alone washes are booked in late spring and again in fall before the stain season closes. Winter road salt tracked onto driveways is the other seasonal call, usually washed off in April once the risk of a freeze has passed.

Renting a pressure washer versus booking a wash
A rented machine cleans a driveway well. On a house or a deck, the pressure setting and the chemistry make the difference.
| Factor | Doing it yourself | Hiring us |
|---|---|---|
| Siding | Easy to strip paint or push water behind panels | Soft wash with cleaner and low pressure |
| Decks and fences | Wand marks and furred grain are common | Wood cleaner and brightener, then rinse |
| Concrete | Striping from an uneven wand pattern | Rotary surface cleaner for an even finish |
| Second story | Ladder work with a pressure hose | Extension wands or a lift |
What moves the price
What decides the cost of this job
Pricing comes from a walkthrough of the actual surfaces.
- Surface type. Soft-wash siding, wood cleaning and concrete are priced differently.
- Square footage. House size and driveway length set the base.
- Stories. Two-story elevations need a longer wand or a lift.
- Soil level. Heavy mildew, oil stains or peeling stain add treatment time.
- Access. Landscaping against the house and tight side yards slow the rinse.
- Add-ons. Gutters, brightener, paver re-sanding and sealing are separate lines.

Questions about power washing in Naperville
High pressure can. We soft-wash siding with a cleaner and a low-pressure rinse, which cleans better and cannot force water behind the panels.
One to three dry days, depending on weather. We measure moisture in wood before staining.
The outside face of the gutters is part of a house wash. Clearing the inside is a small add-on.
Oil usually comes out with a degreaser; rust needs a specific treatment and does not always come out completely.
We wet and cover beds first and rinse them after. The cleaners we use on siding are diluted and rinsed off the house.
Every one to two years in Naperville, sooner on a shaded elevation that shows mildew.
